Building the trade corridors and distribution infrastructure the Caribbean needs to reliably move essential medicines and medical products.

Strengthen Regional Supply Chains

In Practice

BPI is positioning Barbados as a regional gateway for the procurement, storage, and distribution of essential medicines and medical products across the Caribbean. Working with PAHO and the Ministry of Health and Wellness, BPI is advancing the development of a regional supply hub, initially focused on vaccine stockpiling through the PAHO Revolving Fund to strengthen regional health security and emergency preparedness.

In parallel, BPI is developing strategic pharmaceutical trade corridors, including a Barbados–Nigeria partnership, to improve reciprocal market access between CARICOM, ECOWAS, and the wider African market. These partnerships are designed to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities, lower procurement and logistics costs, and create more efficient pathways for manufacturers to reach regional markets.

Together, these initiatives strengthen Barbados' role as a trusted logistics and distribution hub while improving the availability, affordability, and resilience of essential health products across the region.
