BRIDGETOWN, Barbados and MIAMI, United States, 4 September 2026. Barbados Pharmaceutical Inc. (BPI), a state-owned enterprise of the Government of Barbados, and Tudo Bem Tudo Bom USA, LLC (TBTB Pharma), a global diagnostics and patient support services provider with 15 years of experience managing programmes across Latin America, Central America and the Caribbean, signed a memorandum of understanding on 27 August 2026 to support the development of Barbados as a regional pharmaceutical and life sciences hub.
The partnership aligns with BPI's sector strategy and covers three of its five pillars. Under Enabling Environment, TBTB Pharma will contribute to BPI's sector strategy work with input on market positioning, the regional competitive picture, and the partnership engagement agenda. Under Manufacturing Excellence, TBTB Pharma will share market intelligence and operational experience on priority therapeutic areas, including non-communicable and infectious diseases, in the markets where it is active, with a focus on the supply chain gaps that BPI's manufacturing mandate exists to close. Market Development is the third pillar and the main operational focus of the partnership, starting with a mapping of distribution partners across Central America and the Caribbean
The first commercial application the parties are examining together is BPI's IV fluid manufacturing initiative with AMA Medical Manufacturing, a WHO-GMP certified manufacturer in Nigeria. BPI, AMA and TBTB have opened joint discussions on distribution of that production across Latin America and the Caribbean. According to BPI, the facility is planned for the Grantley Adams Industrial Estate with an annual target of 12 million bags, and a first shipment arrived from Lagos on 2 April 2026, part of it donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
"Our sector strategy rests on five pillars, and we are actively building out the plans behind each one. TBTB Pharma is a natural partner for the markets we are targeting, bringing over 15 years of expertise in operational and digital services to this collaboration," said Dr Cindi Lewis, Chief Executive Officer Ag. Barbados Pharmaceutical Inc.
“For fifteen years we've run programs across Latin America and the Caribbean and watched the same shortages come back. A reliable medicine supply is infrastructure — and with BPI, we're bringing our operating and digital expertise to help build a durable supply backbone for the region,” said Oscar Bustillos Chief Executive Officer of TBTB Global.
BPI's mandate is to develop Barbados' pharmaceutical sector and to build the Grantley Adams Industrial Estate into a manufacturing hub for CARICOM and the Global South. A manufacturer choosing where to build looks past a home market of under 300,000 people to the region it can serve from there. Mapping distributors across Central America and the Caribbean is how BPI widens that reach, and each route it opens makes the estate easier to fill.
The memorandum runs for an initial twelve months. It sets a framework rather than commitments, with scope, timing and cost for each workstream to be agreed separately.
