Medicines for Europe's Annual Conference is the leading policy event for the European off-patent medicines industry, bringing together industry leaders, government ministers, and European Commission officials to address manufacturing policy, supply chain resilience, and healthcare access. The 2026 edition took place June 9–11 in Athens, co-hosted with Greece's pharmaceutical industry association, with BPI attending on behalf of PharmaNext.
What BPI Did
BPI engaged with European generics and off-patent medicine manufacturers during two days of industry and policy sessions, building on existing relationships and initiating new discussions to attract European pharmaceutical investment and manufacturing partnerships to Barbados.
Key Outcomes
The conference reinforced the importance of geographic diversification in pharmaceutical manufacturing, a policy gaining traction at the EU level, and generated new industry contacts and follow-up meetings. It also provided a valuable case study of Greece's development as a European manufacturing hub, offering insights relevant to Barbados' pharmaceutical sector ambitions.
