The Biosimilar Medicines Conference is Medicines for Europe's annual flagship event, bringing together the European biosimilar value chain, including manufacturers, CDMOs, regulatory agencies, and procurement bodies. The 2026 edition took place May 7–8 in Amsterdam, drawing over 200 delegates. BPI attended on behalf of PharmaNext to build relationships across the European biosimilar manufacturing landscape.
What BPI Did
BPI engaged with biosimilar manufacturers, clinical trial operators, and regulatory officials during two days of industry and policy sessions, positioning Barbados as a credible location for manufacturing and clinical trials as European companies consider diversifying supply chains.
Key Outcomes
The conference highlighted a clear opportunity: Europe's increasing reliance on Asian biosimilar manufacturing, combined with a gap between biologics losing patent protection and available manufacturers, is driving interest in new, diversified production locations. The event generated new industry contacts and confirmed meetings for BPI to pursue in the second half of the year.
